ANGELA SHELTON

Angela Shelton is an activist, artist, actress, writer, model, dancer, director, and superhero.  Her first movie, Tumbleweeds, which she co-wrote based on her first novel, won the Filmmaker’s Trophy at the 2000 Sundance Film Festival.

Angela went on to receive outstanding reviews for her adaptation of Kaye Gibbon’s novel, Charms for the Easy Life, starring Gena Rowlands, and began a successful screenwriting career in Hollywood.

When Angela set out to create her multi-award winning documentary, Searching for Angela Shelton, her goal was to survey women who shared her name.  As she interviewed other Angela Sheltons, she found that 70% had been victims of rape, childhood sexual assault, and/or domestic violence. This surprising journey led Angela to confront her own abusive past and her pedophile father on Father’s Day.

Searching for Angela Shelton started a grassroots movement of healing for survivors of abuse.  The Angela Shelton Foundation was created with the mission of inspiring and empowering all survivors of abuse to heal and lead joyful lives.
